Objective of Talk The objective of this presentation is to equip veterinarians with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively navigate the meat inspection process and apply that understanding to support sound culling decisions on dairy operations. By outlining the key steps of ante- and post-mortem inspection, explaining slaughter eligibility requirements, and highlighting common conditions that lead to carcass condemnations, this session will help veterinarians better anticipate inspection outcomes and make informed recommendations to producers. With this knowledge, veterinarians can play a more proactive role in improving animal welfare, minimizing economic losses, and ensuring the suitability of animals sent to slaughter.
