Objective:

Valley Veterinary Center of Cherokee, Iowa is searching for a full-time veterinarian to join a well-established eight doctor practice. Strong consideration will also be given to those with mixed animal or large animal predominant interests. The practice is privately owned and consists of 50% large animal and 50% small animal clients, offering surgical, medical, emergency, and ambulatory services. The VVC community is comprised of five locations, two large animal haul-in facilities, and a new haul in facility dedicated to equine patients.
Applicants are able to choose the ratio of small to large patients they are willing to see. |
Training Required:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and licensed in Iowa. |
Experience Desired:

We welcome both new graduates and experienced veterinarians that are interested in collaborating to practice high quality medicine. Our practice is currently listed in an “area of need” for Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program (VMLRP). The state of Iowa and Iowa Farm Bureau also offer individual loan repayment programs. |

Large animal resources include portable manual chutes, two portable hydraulic chutes, two portable hydraulic tub/chutes, large animal surgery/working room, and working chute/alley paired with a hydraulic tilt table. Our small animal practice utilizes two exam rooms, one surgery room, and three kennel rooms (feline, hospital, and canine separately). The capabilities of this clinic include gas anesthesia, digital x-ray, ultrasound, laser therapy, dental machine, and in-house blood/urine analyzers. |

Practice strengths and emphasis of the business:

No two days are the same at VVC! Each doctor’s schedule can be customized to their strengths and interests. Current/past doctor interests include bovine embryology, TCAI in dogs, equine lameness, and orthopedic surgery. On-call is shared between 6 doctors, as emergency services include both small and large animal patients. Doctors that contribute to the on-call rotation may choose two half-days off or one full day off each pay period. |
Practice Area: |
Drive time is a part of the position as the practice area covers a core area of 30 miles. All duties, including emergency on-call, will be shared among all five full time doctors. Looking for the right candidate that is excited to learn, work hard, and communicate well with clients as well as all team members. |
