Objective:
|
Bear Mountain Veterinary Associates (BMVA) is seeking to hire a motivated, team-oriented veterinarian to join our 6 doctor practice. We predominately provide herd health and consulting services to diverse dry lot and free stall dairy herds in California’s Central Valley. We also provide care for beef cow-calf herds, feedlots, calf ranches, and sale yards. |

Training Required:
|
DVM or equivalent, California license, and USDA level II accreditation
|
|
Experience Desired:
|
Good attitude and strong communication skills are a must. Spanish language skills and DC 305 experience desireable. New grads welcome!

Salary:
|
Competitive salary plus evening/weekend incentives, varies with experience.

Strong mentorship and team-based checks allow for integration into the practice at your own pace. The on call schedule is currently split 4 ways allowing for the majority of weekends off. Facilities provided by the veterinary practice:

BMVA is an entirely ambulatory practice. Each vet is provided with a truck and fully stocked Bowie Crown II box, a phone, and an expense card for any additional supplies required (such as coveralls, boots, and gas). We have a small office which consists of a conference room for staff meetings, a laundry facility, supply storage, desk space, and the milk quality lab.

Bear Mountain Veterinary Associates was established as a solo practice almost 40 years ago. Since then it has grown to a 6 doctor practice covering approximately 150,000 head of milking dairy cattle in addition to several sizable beef cow-calf operations, a feedlot, and a sale yard. Most of our dairy clients milk 2000-8000 cows. We are a tightly-knit practice with emphasis on collaboration and team-work which allows for great mentorship as well as the opportunity to develop areas of expertise including expansion of services offered. Our current focus is on reproduction, herd health, and milk quality with opportunities for protocol review and data analysis. |

Bakersfield is located at the southern end of California’s Central Valley which is characterized by mild winters, pleasant spring and fall, and a hot dry summer. With a population of roughly 300,000 it has all the conveniences of a big city (including a strong job market for significant others!) while maintaining a small town feel and reasonable cost of living. We are approximately a 2 hour drive from LA, the central coast, and Sequoia National Forest so whether you are looking for some night life, a relaxing day at the beach, or an invigorating mountain hike it is all within an easy day trip! |
