Objective:
 The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences (LCS) at Michigan State University, College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is seeking applicants to fill a Tenure Track position in Dairy Cattle Production Medicine at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will conduct teaching, extension, and research activities related to the MSU CVM mission to serve the dairy industry of the state. This position will be jointly appointed in Michigan AgBioResearch and MSU Extension. The future colleague will join the LCS Production Medicine team that includes eight faculty, with programs focused on the most relevant health and welfare problems facing the dairy industry. The position offers exciting opportunities to work in a collaborative environment that fosters faculty development. LCS faculty have access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including analytical core facilities and cyber infrastructure for advanced data analytics. LCS dairy faculty are part of the MSU dairy team that includes faculty in the Department of Animal Science and MSU Extension Educators. The team promotes and supports the growth of the Michigan Dairy industry, one of the most progressive in the U.S. and the world. Michigan has the greatest milk production per cow and the lowest average somatic cell count per cow in the country. The development of cutting-edge applied research and extension programs to meet the needs of these progressive producers provides an outstanding opportunity to impact the global dairy industry. The successful candidate will be expected to provide clinical instruction to students participating in dairy production medicine clerkship's with an emphasis on building critical analytical skills. The selected candidate will collaborate with MSU Extension Educators in developing, delivering, and evaluating extension programs integrated with their clinical and research interests. The ability to use quantitative and data science skills to educate veterinarians, extension educators, and producers on investigating and solving herd-level problems is desired. This position requires the development of an externally funded research program related to dairy production medicine. Research should focus on collaborative and applied efforts that would directly impact Michigan's progressive dairy industry and fully integrate with instructional and extension activities. Salary and appointment level will be based on training and experience. Training Required:
 Candidates must have a veterinary medical degree (DVM, VMD, BVSc, or equivalent) and an advanced graduate degree (PhD desirable) or evidence of equivalent research experience and scholarly productivity. Candidates should be eligible for licensing in the State of Michigan (an academic license option exists). 
Experience Desired:
 PhD, board certification. Applicants should have experience collaborating with dairy professionals to solve problems and deliver science-based solutions. The position requires an effective communicator able to impact both scientific peers and industry stakeholders, and possessing the ability to leverage technology to increase the reach and impact of clinical and research findings. Special consideration will be given to applicants with, but not limited to: PhD, board certification, advanced data analytic skills, dairy herd automation and monitoring knowledge, and practical experience in dairy cattle health management, instruction, and outreach programs (such as previous teaching at a university level, extension position, private or public practice or in agricultural industry).
