Objective:
 Postdoctoral Research Associate - Food Animal Ambulatory Medicine Emphasis of this position will be bovine medicine with exposure to other food animal species. The person in this position will gain production medicine-based clinical and applied research experience, while working with clients of the ISU Veterinary Field Services unit, ISU Food Animal and Camelid Hospital, and the ISU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. The primary roles of this position are to develop training modules for veterinarians and veterinary students in collaboration with faculty, provide high-quality veterinary care to the ambulatory care unit’s clientele; and to assist in the instruction of veterinary students within the department’s professional program. Depending on the candidate’s interest, there will be opportunities to conduct applied research. Responsibilities will include being on-call and providing emergency services. This position will allow the individual to pursue board certification as a Beef, Dairy, or Food Animal Diplomate with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) and/or a graduate degree (MS). The candidate will also develop observational research studies of cases and/or case sequences to support the board certification process. The individual selected for this position will be formally and informally trained in the latest tools and techniques in applied research processes and approaches specific to bovine medicine and will learn to conduct field investigations of disease outbreaks to support veterinarians and producers in the United States. Training Required:
 Graduation from an AVMA accredited veterinary college. Eligibility for veterinary licensure in the State of Iowa. Eligibility for accreditation under the USDA National Veterinary Accreditation Program. Valid U.S. driver’s license and be authorized to drive University. vehicles on or before the first day of employment. Demonstrated focus on bovine medicine. 
Experience Desired:
 Strong interest in or more than 1 year of experience in bovine production medicine. Category II veterinary accreditation under the USDA National Veterinary Accreditation Program. Veterinary licensure.

Facilities provided by the veterinary practice:
 The selected candidate will be working with clients of the ISU Veterinary Field Services unit, ISU Food Animal and Camelid hospital and the ISU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. University vehicles are available. 
Other Personnel :  Will join a department with over 50 food animal focused faculty and 150 staff

 VDPAM was created in 1997 to strategically grow the resources and emphasis in production animal medicine at the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine. VDPAM consists of approximately 55 faculty and 150 staff and many of our faculty and staff serve food animal agriculture through the Veterinary Field Services unit, Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center’s Food Animal and Camelid Hospital and the ISU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.
