The Department of Population Health, Food Animal Health and Management Program, in the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia invites applicants for a clinical or tenure track position at the assistant or associate professor level in bovine production and preventive medicine. This position will be based at the UGA Tifton Veterinary Diagnostic and Investigational Laboratory (TVDIL) Campus in Tifton, GA. Requirements include a DVM degree from an accredited college/school of veterinary medicine and postgraduate training and/or board certification (or eligibility) in a field related to livestock production management or preventive medicine.
A postgraduate degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a field related to livestock production management and preventive medicine is required for a tenure track appointment, and 5+ years-experience is required for appointment at the Associate Professor level. Work experience (minimum 1 year of experience) in one or more of the following areas is desirable: livestock nutrition; pasture management; food safety; production economics; reproductive management; large animal internal medicine, epidemiology, or preventive health management. Board certification or the ability to obtain board certification is preferred for all positions.
The successful candidate will teach veterinary students and postgraduate veterinarians and collaborate with faculty in production and clinical medicine.
The position will build upon the teaching and service missions of the Food Animal Health and Management Program by working with existing faculty members to provide didactic and on-farm clinical experiences for veterinary students as well as contributing to educational programs for referring veterinarians and Extension programs for producers in the livestock industry in GA. Additionally, this position will work closely with TVDIL faculty to assist with client services and outreach at the TVDIL and provide consultations on non-poultry food animal submissions.
