Objective:
 Position Announcement Large Animal Surgeon/Hospital Clinician Department of Veterinary Large Animal Clinical Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences Texas A&M University, College Station The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, 11-month appointment, clinical track faculty position in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery at the academic rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor based on experience. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute primarily to the patient care and teaching missions of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, while participating in collaborative research and other scholarly activities. Approximately 70% effort will be assigned to Patient Care and Clinical Teaching. The remainder will be dedicated to Didactic and Laboratory Teaching and Scholarship and Academic Service. The candidate must have experience, clinical competence, and interest in food animal medicine and surgery. This position joins a collaborative large animal department consisting of 32 board-certified faculty representing specialties in surgery, internal medicine, theriogenology, anesthesiology, radiology, sports medicine and rehabilitation, and emergency critical care. Eight discipline-focused faculty members provide services to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice livestock units, equine ambulatory clients, and Texas Emergency Management. The food animal group specifically is comprised of 10 faculty members, 7 of whom are board-certified. Food Animal faculty members are distributed among 3 service areas: Food Animal Medicine and Surgery, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and the West Texas A&M Veterinary Education, Research, and Outreach program in Canyon, Texas. The successful applicant will be assigned to the Food Animal Medicine and Surgery service and will provide continuity of Patient Care and Clinical Teaching to house officers and students in the professional curriculum. In addition, the successful applicant is expected to contribute to the didactic and laboratory education of pre-clinical students. The successful applicant will be assigned to after-hours emergency services on a rotational basis with other faculty members. The case load of the hospital includes cattle, sheep, goats, New and Old World camelids, swine, potbelly pigs, and exotic hoofstock. Preventive medicine and a robust referral caseload are the strengths of the hospital service. Training Required:
 Candidates must have a DVM/VMD or equivalent degree. Applicants must be board certified or eligible to take the certifying examination of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons or European College of Veterinary Surgeons. Applicants must meet requirements for regular licensure in the State of Texas.

Facilities provided by the veterinary practice:
 The Food Animal facilities in the VMTH include 3 hydraulic chutes (2 tilt chutes), a hydraulic tilt table and an obstetrical working area. Food animal specific standing and recumbent surgical suites are also available within the Food Animal working area. The hospital has 13 indoor stalls, one isolation stall, and 4 covered outdoor pens for food animals. There are multiple diagnostic imaging modalities available, including digital radiography, ultrasonography, endoscopy, CT, and MRI. The service is supported by 4 technicians dedicated to the Food Animal Hospital. Food Animal Field Services has two new trucks fully equipped with refrigerators, inverters, biosecurity kits and all other tools necessary to practice state-of-the-art ambulatory food animal medicine.
