Facilities provided by the veterinary practice:
|
Our practice operates out of a centrally located office with a milk lab on site. The milk lab includes mycoplasma culturing and a somatic cell counter. Office computers include DC305, PCDart, and PowerPoint. Each vet has a dedicated practice vehicle (4WD Toyota Tacoma) with a Bowie unit, as well as their own BCF ultrasound. Embryo transfer equipment, including a freezer are available. Other equipment includes a Vadia, manometer, ATP meter, and captive bolt. We're open to purchasing additional equipment if it can help improve services provided to our clients. |
Other Personnel : |
The practice includes 4 veterinarians and 2 support staff. |
Practice strengths and emphasis of the business:
|
Our practice strives to be client focused, and our reputation in the area is strong. The business in its current structure has been in place for close to 30 years, and the original partners started in the area over 50 years ago. The clientele has changed a great deal over the years, but some of the original farms from 50 years ago are still with the business. Our dairy herds range from 10 to 3000 cows (organic and conventional) and our small ruminant caseload is constantly growing.
While our goal is to be responsive to our clients needs, we also value a work, life balance. No routine calls are scheduled before 7:45 AM or after 3:30 PM, no routine calls are done on weekends, and emergency coverage is split equally among all vets (one weeknight per week, and 1 weekend in 4 on call, with Fridays off after that weekend). We work hard to support our newest associates with the right mix of mentorship and independence. New associates will have their own herds to work with as soon as they are comfortable. This may be in tandem with one of the established vets, or independently. The practice is supportive of outside training that will allow associates to bring new services into the practice.
|
Practice Area: |
The practice restricts its coverage area to approximately 45 minutes in radius. Champlain Valley, in Vermont, is a great area to experience the full four seasons of outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, boating, skiing, and more. Middlebury is a small college town in the center of the practice area, and boasts a surprising amount of music, arts, restaurants, and shopping. Montreal is around 2 hours away, and Boston and NYC are within 4 hours, including a new Amtrak service to NYC from Middlebury. If the Green Mountains aren't enough for you, the Adirondacks are just over an hour away. Tourism is a big industry in the state, so visiting friends and family will have no shortage of activities. |
