Environment:
Facilities provided by the veterinary practice:
|
Well established clinic buildings. Bovine facility is located in the main building and is equipped with c-section chute and hydraulic squeeze, sorting pens and drive-through unload. We do a large amount of work in the building, and only go on-farm for pregnancy testing and semen testing ( 6 or more bulls). All calvings, surgeries and retests are done at the clinic. We have a new equine facility with working space and separate indoor heated stalling. Main building also has exam room and surgery suite for our small animal caseload. We utilize cloud-based software and EMR’s, have in-house bloodwork, SAA, Stalo Cannon DR, Sonoscape Digital Ultrasound with Doppler, bovine ultrasounds and all the other usual clinic equipment. |
Other Personnel : |
Currently 2 full-time DVMs, 2 veterinary assistants, 1 registered technician, 1 CSR/Office Manager and 1 Practice Manager. If an additional DVM was hired, more support staff would be added for them. |
Practice strengths and emphasis of the business:
|
While we are a full mixed animal practice, we cater to our large animal clientele with the majority of our caseload being cow/calf. It is a progressive ranching community so most herds are large and we have very few acreage/hobby farm clients. The equine side of the practice has been rapidly expanding with a focus on dentistry, lameness and medical management of cases ( nearest equine referral hospitals are 4 hours away so we get to see and treat lots of neat stuff, with the option to refer as needed). We do see small animal appointments and have a surgery suite, but we load those appointments into the off season for cow work, and usually stop seeing those appointments and surgeries during the fall season with a start up in January. |
Practice Area: |
Maple Creek is a ranching community so there is lots of opportunity for 4-H, showing cattle and riding your horses ( this is a huge rodeo community). A small town with all the amenities of a larger center it is nestled at the bottom of the Cypress Hills Destination area that provides riding trails, hiking trails, and in the winter, groomed cross country ski trails. If hunting and fishing is more your style we have some of the best of that too. While we are located in Canada we have warm winters and are a short 45 min from a US border crossing. |
