Description: The Parallel -- Witnessing two of the greatest social changes in my lifetime, by Carl Erskine, autographed! Copyright 2012. Branch Rickey signed Carl Erskine to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1946. He spent two years in the minor leagues. He pitched for the Dodgers from 1948-1960. He pitched two no-hitters and once held the World Series the strike out record of fourteen vs the New York Yankees. Carl was a teammate of Jackie Robinson for eleven years and both witnessed terrible incidents of racial prejudice. Carl had a son with a disability who experienced prejudice from the public. Carl became a national leader for Special Olympics. He linked prejudicial events of these two life situations to write a 64-page book about social changes. Several photos of Carl and Jackie and their baseball experiences. The donor acquired the book thru a classmate in practice at Anderson, Ind. where Carl Erskine resides in retirement.
