The Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, invites applications for a full time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate professor ranks to join the team of the Quality Milk Production Services.
Training Required:
Individuals having DVM and/or PhD degrees, or equivalent, and research interests, capacity and performance in a dairy population medicine and udder health area are encouraged to apply. Knowledge and experience in extension and application of dairy production systems are expected.

Other desirable qualities of the successful candidate include strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work in collaborative research, clinical, and teaching environments.
Salary:
The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $170,000 and will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
Benefits:
The successful candidate will be hired at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications and experience. Establishment of an independent, extramurally funded research program is expected in addition to collaborative research efforts. Relevant areas of strength within the department include infectious diseases, diagnostic sciences, epidemiology, production medicine, and genetics. Research, service, and teaching interactions with the Ambulatory and Production Medicine group will be welcome. Excellent opportunities exist for investigative collaborations within the College of Veterinary Medicine and with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Didactic teaching of dairy-related courses in veterinary core courses and relevant elective courses is also expected along with graduate education through mentoring. Distribution of effort will be determined in accordance with administrative and service needs, academic priorities, and the candidate’s expertise and academic goals in udder health, cow welfare, and dairy medicine, production, and productivity.

QMPS operates three regional laboratories in NYS, in addition to its central services on the Cornell campus in Ithaca, maintaining a constant presence on dairy farms across the state and beyond to offer comprehensive evaluation of dairy farm operations with regard to optimal and safe production of high-quality milk.

Sustained NYS funding and constant revenue generated from fees for diagnostic testing and dairy farm surveys and consults, with an operating budget exceeding $3,000,000 and more than 25 staff and faculty, provides a strong background to launch externally funded cutting edge research projects and programs to further udder health and dairy cow welfare, dairy production, and productivity.
