Training Required:
DVM or equivalent, will need to obtain licensure in South Dakota, Wyoming, and Nebraska (clinic will compensate) and USDA Type II Accreditation
Experience Desired:
Any experience level is welcomed. New graduates are encouraged to apply as mentorship and teamwork are core values. Associates are also welcome to practice medicine as they see fit, and are encouraged to pursue their own special interests-if you want to learn it, we will teach you or send you to the necessary training!

Facilities provided by the veterinary practice:
Ambulatory services with two hydraulic chutes are provided for herd work in an 80 mile radius, serving South Dakota, Wyoming, and Nebraska. Haul-in facilities are available for cattle and horses, meaning 95% of cattle emergencies are handled in-clinic (with all your equipment, lights, and heat)! Cattle work is very seasonal with pregnancy diagnosis in the fall (over 19,000 per year using ibexx and reproscan ultrasounds with wand extensions), bangs vaccination and spaying heifers in the spring, and bull testing in the summer. A newer reliable work truck with a vet box and all equipment is provided. We utilize Avimark, in-house Idexx machines, digital radiographs, multimodal anesthesia monitoring, ultrasonic dental machine, 3 exam rooms, and a surgery suite.

Clinic is a four veterinarian practice that has two very well trained receptionists as well as several dedicated veterinary assistants and licensed technician. Hours are 8-5 M-F and 8-2 the Saturday you’re on call, with ample time to get your charting done during the day so you’re truly out at 5pm. On-call is distributed equally between vets with a three day weekend after being on-call, and everyone has a consistent half day off during every work week.
Practice strengths and emphasis of the business:
In addition to pregnancy diagnosis/ultrasound, bull testing, heifer spaying, and bangs vaccination, our clinic excels at herd health consultations for cow/calf ranchers, standing liver biopsies for mineral testing, cattle c-sections, and waterbelly surgeries. Small animal caseload includes preventative care, medicine cases, routine surgeries (spays, neuters, lump removals, and ultrasonic dentals), and emergency services, with the option to refer more intensive or hospitalized cases to Rapid City. Equine services include preventative care, lacerations, basic lameness, floats (with power float), and opportunity to expand breeding services.

Edgemont is a small community with a big heart located 1.5 hours south of Rapid City! If you hate sitting in traffic, this is the place for you- the closest red light is 26 miles away! It is a strong ranching community where you can depend on your neighbors. You won’t be a stranger for long-within 24 hours everyone at the post office will know your name, and you will likely be signed up for the volunteer fire department, church potluck, or library board in this town of 700. We have a vibrant school with sports teams, a community theater in the summer, and many volunteer opportunities. It is also the start of the Mickelson Trail, a 108 mile long multi-use trail, great for cycling, horse riding, running, etc. There are many outdoor opportunities in the summer, being immersed in the Black Hills National Forest and 40 minutes from Custer State Park (great for climbers, hunters, ATVs, winter sports, and more).
