Objective:
 If you are drawn to cattle country and the true western lifestyle, Alberta, Canada is the place to be! Veterinary Agri-Health Services, Ltd, (VAHS) was founded in 1993 in southern Alberta and currently services progressive cow-calf and feedlot operations across all four western provinces. Though we are 100% beef cattle focused there are several areas to specialize in and lots of variety to our day. Our mission is to is to provide client-focused professional services and expertise in beef cattle health and welfare, production medicine, field research, and veterinary education. We are currently seeking another full-time “cow vet” to join our team. New graduates and seasoned veterinarians, alike, are encourage to apply. Our field work is seasonal in nature, however, there is a good balance between clinical duties (preg-checking by U/S, semen testing, feedlot necropsies, etc.) and office duties (consulting, data analysis, research, etc.). Training Required:
 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD, or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school and eligibility for licensure through the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association is required. We currently have 3 American veterinarians in our practice and can assist international applicants with work permits. 
Experience Desired:
 New graduates are welcome! Cattle handling experience and a keen interest in beef production are required. We have lots of great mentorship opportunities based on your primary interests. For the seasoned practitioner, there is ample opportunity to specialize in feedlot health and performance data analytics, cow-calf consulting, nutrition and/or field research. We are currently conducting research projects on antimicrobial resistance, genetic markers for BRD, bovine coronavirus, lameness in the feedlot, advancing feed analysis technology, vitamin and mineral supplementation, among others. We regularly collaborate with veterinarians and epidemiologists at the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan.

 Our practice offers a competitive salary with bonuses and profit sharing structure, mentorship, cell phone, full health benefits, continuing education allowance and professional dues. Veterinarians are granted 3 weeks paid vacation, 1 week for continuing education, and 1 week sick leave. We share on-call and holiday duties, ensuring that everyone gets personal time off.

Facilities provided by the veterinary practice:
 VAHS has a newly constructed office and warehouse. All veterinarians have access to a truck with fully equipped vet box. Our clients have excellent facilities and all herd and individual animal work is performed on site at their ranches and feedlots. 
Other Personnel :  We have a great professional team consisting of 8 veterinarians, 2 RVTs, 2 field services assistants, and 3 other support staff.   
Practice strengths and emphasis of the business:
 We have built our practice on excellent customer service, and as a result have very strong relationships with our clients. We consider many of them close friends and are frequently invited to their brandings, cattle drives and bull sales. Our veterinarians are also encouraged to become active in industry roles (AABP, WCABP, etc.) and volunteer within the community (4-H, Ag societies, etc.) We enjoy teaching and host students through the University of Calgary Distributed Teaching Hospital. We also deliver an Advanced Beef Production Medicine rotation each July for ten 4th year veterinary students from all over North America. VAHS hosts numerous staff events each year including a summer party, Christmas party, river float, ranch rodeo competition, and of course, the occasional wing Wednesday.
