Objective:
 The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Tenure-track) in bovine theriogenology. The expectation is that the majority of this appointment (50%) will focus on teaching (DVM students and other opportunities), 40% will be used to conduct research on bovine theriogenology, and the remaining 10% will involve departmental and university service. Instruction in theriogenology of all major species, including clinical, didactic, and laboratory teaching of DVM students, and course administration, will be a major requirement of this position. Contributions to other courses, particularly professional skills and graduate courses, may also be required, according to program needs and the expertise of the successful candidate. Training Required:
 Qualifications include a DVM (or equivalent) and advanced clinical training in food animal theriogenology, plus either a graduate degree or board certification (or equivalent) in theriogenology. The candidate must also be licensed or eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Alberta. The applicant must have experience in teaching and research in bovine theriogenology. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent, innovative, and extramurally funded research program in bovine theriogenology (dairy or beef) and to supervise graduate students. The University of Calgary has WA Ranches, a 19,000-acre ranch with approximately 1000 commercial beef cows. In addition, there are many commercial dairy, cow-calf and purebred beef operations nearby.

Facilities provided by the veterinary practice:
 UCVM has approximately 70 faculty members, 130 staff, 125 DVM students, 110 graduate students, 25 post-doctoral fellows, and 15 advanced clinical trainees. UCVM’s DVM program provides a comprehensive general veterinary education to approximately 30-32 students per year (50 students per year as of September 2020). The program is an integrated core-elective program, with enhanced educational opportunities in defined areas that combine discipline-based courses with extensive on-campus and off-campus experiential learning. UCVM is a research-intensive faculty with expanding research, graduate education, and advanced clinical trainee programs.
