Objective:

The University of Missouri Food Animal Medicine Faculty Position (2019)
The University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, seeks applications for a full-time tenure track or non-tenure track faculty position in Food Supply Veterinary Medicine at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank. This appointment’s primary focus is field service and production medicine for all livestock, with a minority of time dedicated to in house clinical service. In addition, the successful candidate will:
• Develop a caseload-based clinical curriculum in livestock production medicine;
• Contribute to a production medicine clinical elective that is taught every year;
• Interact with the animal-owning public, referring veterinarians, students, commodity groups, extension faculty, animal science faculty, and the Missouri Department of Agriculture;
• Share with other faculty and house officers in after-hours call;
• Share responsibility for training interns, residents, and graduate students.
• Participate in clinical / production-based research (non-tenure track-teaching) or develop an independently funded research program related to food supply veterinary medicine (tenure track).
Didactic teaching, outreach, or administrative service will make up the remainder of the appointment. Distribution of effort will be based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, career goals, and the needs of the food animal section.
Initial appointment will begin as soon as an acceptable candidate can be identified and hired.
Candidates will be assessed based upon educational and professional achievement. Clinical experience, communication skills, experience working effectively in diverse environments, and letters of reference will all be considered in selection of a candidate. The potential for the candidate to work within the framework of the food animal section will also be assessed, as will specialty and/or research training and teaching experience. We are seeking a candidate with interest in practicing up-to-date medicine/surgery and a passion for teaching.

Training Required:
|
DVM or equivalent degree, eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Missouri, and Federal Accreditation by the USDA are required. |

Experience Desired:
|
Diplomate status or eligibility in a specialty relevant to food supply veterinary medicine is desirable. Graduate training is desirable, especially for candidates considering a tenure track position. |

MU’s Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital is a state-of-the-art teaching and medical services facility for companion animals as well as livestock.
