Description: Title: Curtiss - Histories of Curtiss Candy Company Farms and Curtiss Breeding Service by Miles R. McCarry, 176 pages. Unique history that began in 1926 by Mr. Otto Schnering who died in 1953. His wife managed the business and in 1956 the cattle breeding portion was separated from the candy portion. In 1968 the Schnering era ended when G. D. Searle & Co. became owner. In 1981 the U.S. bankruptcy judge authorized the demise. Also The Schnerings had commercial ventures in raising fish,poultry, swine and horses. They developed an artificial insemination business with cattle breeders which was a livestock legacy. Fascinating history written by an employee of 17 years.
